Bio:
Elena Volokhina obtained MSc degree from the University of Amsterdam in 2003. She then continued her training as a PhD student at Utrecht University where she studied biogenesis of outer membrane proteins of Neisseria meningitidis. In 2009 dr. Volokhina has joined the Department of Pediatrics at the Radboud university medical center for a postdoctoral fellowship and focused on pathophysiology of complement-mediated renal disorders. Currently dr. Elena Volokhina is an assistant professor at the Department of Pediatrics at the Radboudumc. The center is a part of The European Rare Kidney Disease Reference Network. In her current position dr. Volokhina continues to further develop her research line on complement-mediated renal diseases with direct translation to diagnostics and patient care. In 2019 she was elected as an incoming president of the European Complement Network.
