Thomas Ciulla

Dr. Thomas Ciulla brings over 25 years of leadership experience in ophthalmology, biotech, and academia. He served as Chief Medical Officer (CMO) at Viridian Therapeutics and Clearside Biomedical where he led clinical development of the first FDA-approved suprachoroidal therapy. Previously, he directed medical strategy at both Spark Therapeutics and IVERIC Bio resulting FDA-approvals for the first ophthalmic gene therapy and a treatment for AMD/geographic atrophy. Dr. Ciulla is a board-certified in Ophthalmology with degrees from Harvard University (BA), UCSF (MD), and Indiana University (MBA). He completed his internship and ophthalmology residency at Harvard Medical School and vitreoretinal surgery fellowship at Tufts University and serves as Adjunct Clinical Professor at Indiana University School of Medicine.
