Dr Viral Kansara joined Clearside Biomedical as Vice President, Discovery. Viral was formerly Head of Ocular Drug Discovery and Drug Delivery Laboratory in the Ophthalmology department at Novartis Institutes for Biomedical Research, Inc. He has over 12 years of combined industry and academic experience and expertise in the field of ocular drug discovery, delivery, and drug development. At Novartis, Dr. Kansara’s lab focused on the discovery and development of novel treatment therapies for blinding diseases such as macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, neurodegeneration, and glaucoma. He leads a team of scientists responsible for evaluating novel ocular drug delivery technologies, identifying new targets, and developing pharmacology models. Dr. Kansara has published and presented his research at numerous national and international conferences.
